IFF at the World Perfumery Congress
RECYCLED, REPURPOSED, REIMAGINED
"What if we created a trade show booth completely from recycled
and upcycled materials?"
We began by brainstorming every recyclable structural or functional item we could think of, ideally sourced from our client’s facilities and existing materials. Once armed with pallets, oil drums, stacks of cardboard, burlap sacks used for harvesting, miles of rope and yarn, and hundreds of IFF’s trademark “blue fragrance bottles”, we were ready to begin designing.
The focal point of our booth became a fourteen foot high back wall created entirely out of discarded wooden pallets. A living wall, designed with IFF’s distinctive “molecule” shapes, a key visual identifier of their brand. Booth walls constructed from discarded cardboard, with relief-cut molecule shapes and burnished with brand statements. We achieved height by creating a semi-transparent wall of rope that hung from above the booth. Seating for attendees created from oil drums fabricated into tables and highboys, as well as cushioned pallets for seating. With a Science of Wellness interactive experience consisting entirely of wood and yarn, a multitude of scent experiences at our counters, and a Sleep Pod for recharging and re-energizing our attendees, our booth was finally complete.
To truly live up to our pledge, the entirety of the booth was then recycled upon teardown. Most importantly, we donated a handful of the evergreen items to local charities – Camillus House, Chapman Partnership, and Genesis Hopeful Haven.
It was quite a ride, and one we were fortunate and very proud to be a part of.
